We consider ourselves "Alternative" in more than just our designs. While many home plan companies offer home plan sets typically containing only 5 or 6 sheets of blueprints, we pride ourselves on providing far more complete sets of plans, ranging from 15 to 25 sheets of blueprints.

Our home plans are protected by United States Copyright Law and International Treaties. The designs, or portions thereof, may not be copied or used in any way without our written release. It is illegal to create derivative works or have plans, renderings, or sketches drawn based on our home plans, renderings, catalogs, internet site, or other marketing materials.

When you purchase a set of home plans, you are granted the right to use the documents to construct a single home. The plans may not be resold, leased, transferred, or used by any other person. You must purchase an additional license for each home you construct.

You may not make copies from blueprints at any time. However, when you purchase a set of plans drawn on reproducible media, you may make up to ten sets of blueprints from that reproducible set.

Building Code Compliance

Because building codes vary widely throughout the country, it is up to you and your contractor to build the home in compliance with local building codes and regulations. Your plans may need to be modified to comply with local building conditions, energy codes, seismic and soil conditions, snow loads, zoning regulations, and other ordinances or requirements. You are authorized to use our plans on the condition that you strictly comply with all local building codes and ordinances.

Some cities and states require an architect or engineer to review your plans prior to construction. Contact your local building authority for requirements in your area.


While we take great care and effort in the production of our designs and drawings, we are unable to provide on-site supervision or control over the construction of your home. Additionally, building codes, regulations, and building practices vary widely. Therefore we do not make any warranty, expressed or implied, with respect to the use of our plans, their content, or the fitness of our plans for your unique construction project. We strongly advise you to consult with a local architect and building official to review the plans before you begin construction.

Our home plans are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Our drawings and specifications may contain errors, omissions, typographical errors, or other inaccuracies. Alternative Home Plans assumes no responsibility or liability for these errors or omissions and any incidental, indirect or consequential damages whatsoever arising from the use of our home plans or the information provided therein.
